The department has extensive experience in advising both landlords and tenants on the rent review process, acting on properties across London and the south east. As experienced negotiators, with a fully up-to-date knowledge of case law, we are able to obtain exemplary results on behalf of clients.

All clients are provided with detailed advice on the rent review process, with regular contact from partners Paul Krendel and John Carter who personally handle each case. The team regularly acts on properties within the office, retail, restaurant and industrial sectors, but also has considerable experience in the leisure industry. The team, when agreement proves impossible, regularly produces Expert Reports to Arbitrators and Independent Experts, liaising with leading Counsel on legal disputes and providing a comprehensive case management service. Paul Krendel regularly acts as both an Arbitrator and Independent Expert in rental disputes, appointed by the RICS or by private agreement between the parties.

Park Lane, London W1

Levy has been retained by the private investor landlord to act on its behalf on various rent reviews on the retail element of their property in Park Lane.  Significant rental increases have been achieved on each occasion.

199 Bishopsgate, EC2

Levy is acting for one of the tenants of 9,000 sq ft in this landmark City office building.  The building is part of the Broadgate Estate and is subject to a rent review with effect from November 2018.

16 Brewhouse Yard, London EC1

Levy acted for a Far Eastern investor on this 44,000 sq ft HQ office building in Clerkenwell.  Formerly a brewery constructed in the 19th century, the building is currently being let to architects BDP. The team were successful in achieving an increase on the rent review of more than 40%.

St George’s Industrial Estate, London N22

Levy has successfully secured a substantial increase in rent for the institutional landlord of this trading estate.

33 Jermyn Street, London SW1

Levy acted for the head tenant APAX Partners LLP on their rent review of this 62,000 sq ft office building against Standard Life. The rent review was proceeding to arbitration but ultimately was agreed by negotiation and a saving of £1.625m per annum was achieved from the quoting rent.
